Neurodegenerative Disease Progression
My research focusses on developing and applying computer science approaches to determining the progression of degenerative neurological diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. I am a UKRI Future Leaders Fellow, and co-leader of the POND group in CMIC at UCL.
I’m the Scientific Manager (and Co-Investigator) for the EuroPOND consortium.

Soft crystal physics: Complex Plasmas
Some of my previous research at the University of Liverpool was in the area of dusty plasmas, which are essentially toy systems for exploring the physics of soft crystals. A dusty plasma is a mixture of neutral gas atoms, positive ions, electrons and micrometer-sized `dust’ particles (plastic spheres in our experiments). This work involved image processing (segmentation, registration, etc.), object tracking (dynamics modelling), and data analysis.
Quantum Filtering, et al.
Other interests include machine learning, quantum filtering, state estimation, and object tracking.

Publications on complex plasmas are here.
Most of my early research results can be found on the arXiv. More recently I’ve been using bioRxiv.
